Here is a spicy recipe ideal for winter, protects from coughs, colds and body aches. Also ideal to take along during travel
1. Tamarind lemon size
2. Salt 1 tsp
3. Turmeric 1/4 tsp
1. Black pepper 1 tbsp
2. Varatha Molaga - 4
3. Ultham paruppu 1 tsp
4. Tovaram parauppu 1 tsp
5. Kadala paruppu 1 tsp
6. Mendhiyum 1/4 tsp
7. Asafoetida 1 pinch
1. kadugu 1/4 tsp
2. Ultham paruppu 1/4 tsp
3. Karvapilai leaves
In a little oil, fry all the roasting ingredients, let them cool, then grind to a powder or paste with water.
Boil the tamarind and extract all the juice.
Splutter mustard and urad dal and curry leaves in a little oil.
Add the tamarind juice, turmeric powder and salt and bring it to boil.
Add the roasted mixture and reduce the flame to low. Bring it to a boil, adding some water, if required and stirring in between. Continue till it becomes a thick paste.
This can be served with rice and ghee/oil, along with papads or chips or raita or any vegetable. This will last for several days if stored in the fridge.
